Q: Is Sounds4Fun OS X Edition identical to the old Sounds4Fun last updated in 1998?

A: No, both for technical reasons (OS X is very different to OS 9 and older) and because of the march of time (e.g. who inserts/ejects floppies these days, eh?), Sounds4Fun OS X Edition is not identical to its ancestor.

Q: How many events can I associate a sound to?

A: You can associate a sound to up to 68 different events in the Events tab of the Sounds4Fun System Preferences panel. You can also specify a sound that will play when any of a virtually unlimited number of phrases are typed. Furthermore, you can get the "iTunes Announcer" to speak the title and artist when a new track starts playing in iTunes. 

Q: I turned Sounds4Fun off, but I still hear the sound I associated to the Alert Sound event, why?

A: Alert Sound is handled differently from all the other events. As there is no notification, Sounds4Fun places the file pathname of the sound you choose at a location where the standard alert sound mechanism can pick it up. As such, Sounds4Fun does not need to be on for that sound to play.
